Author: J.T. of fyeahbatmanandrobin

Rating: PG

Genre: Humor/Adventure/Family

Characters:  (de-aged) Bruce Wayne, (young adult) Dick Grayson, and Tim Drake

Note:  This story might be a bit longer than others I’ve posted.  I’m experimenting by posting it in segments, but I’ll link them together so they’re easy to find. Also, sorry for the cracky title.  I regret nothing.

Summary (Potential spoilers): Set in the DCAU.  An alternate ending and continuation of the Justice League Unlimited episode “Kids’ Stuff”.  Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern are not instantly transformed back into adults when Mordred’s amulet is destroyed.  Morgaine Le Fay refuses to help the League members who were turned into children, and they are sent back to the Watchtower in their adolescent state.  As the Justice League works to reverse the spell, Batman insists on returning to Gotham City to work a case.

Nightwing returns to Gotham to assist his former mentor, but he persuades Bruce that the criminals of Gotham won’t be impressed by an eight-year-old Batman.  Dick Grayson dons the Dark Knight’s cowl for the mission, and Bruce borrows an old costume from its display case in the cave, learning to view crimefighting from the perspective of a Robin.

Chapter One

“We stopped your little mama’s boy,” Batman sneered, arms folded across his chest.  It was a much smaller surface than he was accustomed to, and the shortness of his limbs still felt unusual.  His commanding presence had not been altered, however, and he glared up at the masked sorceress as she fussed over her wayward son. “Change us back, Morgaine.”

Morgaine touched the pale blonde hair on Mordred’s head, and Batman could have sworn it was a shade darker only moments ago.  “You’ve destroyed him,” she whispered, and the young man in her grasp stooped over, rubbing his lower back.

“I’m tired, Mother,” Mordred said.  They had been the target of his childish wrath only minutes before, but Mordred didn’t seem to notice Batman and his colleagues anymore.  He stared at the ground, his eyes watery and unfocused.

“Of course you are.  Mother’s here.  Mother will take care of you.” Morgaine’s golden gauntlet swirled against the air and a blue armchair was conjured at Mordred’s heels.  She settled him into it, and her unreadable mask focused upon the Justice League once more.  “You’ve broken the spell that prevented him from aging, but not his immortality.  Do you understand?”

“Aw, man! He is gonna be old.  Like,” Green Lantern paused to think.  He tilted his head and counted on his fingers. “Like five-hundred-and-twenty-three years old, maybe.”

“Whoa,” said Superman. “That’s older than my pa.”

“Older even still,” Morgaine said, and the cold monotone of her voice rose with anger. “You are fortunate I do not strike you all down where you stand.”
